Kim Kardashian West is facing allegations from several members of her domestic staff. They filed a lawsuit on Monday. They claim the reality star failed to pay them overtime and stated she did not provide enough breaks while staying at her California home.
“Plaintiffs never received any paystubs, were not paid on regular pay periods, were not given their required meal and rest breaks, were not provided a means to record all their hours, were not paid all their hours, were not reimbursed for employment expenses, were not paid all their overtime wages, and were not paid their wages upon termination of employment,” said Los Angeles attorney Frank Kim, according to NBC News.
Not only was Kardashian West accused of withholding overtime pay and hour violations, but she also withheld 10 percent of their pay for taxes while they were working in her home in Hidden Hills, a gated community in LA County. Nevertheless, she was not reporting their employment to tax authorities.
Over the years, the well-known celeb has been a successful media mogul and has a successful cosmetics and clothing empire. With her recent win as one of the Forbes-listed billionaires, it comes as a surprise that she is under fire for failing to compensate third-party workers. Her workplace lawyers have yet to reveal the vendor. However, representatives of the suit claim:
“These workers were hired and paid through a third-party vendor hired by Kim to provide ongoing services,” the representatives said, according to NBC News. “Kim is not [a] party to the agreement made between the vendor and their workers, therefore she is not responsible for how the vendor manages their business and the agreements they have made directly with their staff. Kim has never not paid a vendor for their services and hopes that the issue between these workers and the vendor who hired them can be amicably resolved soon.”
